Surgery Surprises

My surgeon sat next to me in the room where I was prepped for surgery; she looked at me with a kind smile and asked how I was feeling.

“The only way out is through,” I replied, “I’m ready to be on the other side on my way back to health.”

Her smile brightened as she took my hands and asked, “Would you mind if I pray with you?”

I may have said, "I'd love that!" a little too enthusiastically. Then she prayed the sweetest prayer over me and the surgery.

I will never get over the tangible ways God steps into my story.

If I had to use just one word to define Thursday, the day of my surgery, the word would be peace. It was a day characterized by a supernatural peace only God could provide.

It was yet another reminder that the time, energy, and effort you spend building your relationship with God will not be wasted. There is nothing else on this earth that will reap the same benefits.

Don’t let the world distract you or convince you otherwise.

On Thursday, there was an injection of radioactive tracers, a mastectomy, 2 drains, 3 incisions, and many hours in surgery. These days there are wounds to heal, medications to take, restrictions to follow, and rest.

Most of all, there is peace, joy, and reminders that there is still beauty and wisdom to gain even in these circumstances.

Press on, friend, the best things this life on earth can offer are found in a relationship with God. He will not disappoint you.

I'd love to hear a tangible way you have seen God in your story lately. Share in the comments! ❤️

"For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
from those who walk uprightly."
